YESTERWEST
by Gary Ledoux

1881, June 7 - On this date, the stately Schieffelin Hall on Tombstone's Fremont Street was used for the first time for a dance sponsored by Tombstone's Irish League. Fortunately, it was spared the scourge of flames when two weeks later a major fire leveled two square blocks of the city including 66 businesses. Today, Schieffelin Hall continues to serve the people of Tombstone for various meetings and events.
